Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) has been wooing visitors with its topnotch digital communication products at the 9th International Exhibition for Enterprises, SMEs, and Partnerships dubbed PROMOTE which officially opened in Yaounde on Monday February 19.

The telecoms giant is amongst the thousands of enterprises from 30 countries in the sub region, Africa, Asia and Europe exhibiting products and services at the multi-sectoral fair taking place under the theme: “Private Sector, Evolution and Structural Transformation of African Economies”.

With an estimated turnout of 50,000 local and overseas visitors, the 2024 edition of PROMOTE “offers us [CAMTEL] the opportunity to showcase our products and services especially our expertise in electronic communication not only to nationals but also foreigners,” said Eric Benjamin Lamère, Head of Division for Institutional and Digital Communication at CAMTEL.

The Minister of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, who chaired the opening ceremony of the mega business rendezvous on behalf of the Prime Minister Head of Government said the aim of the trade fair is to promote companies and establish partnerships among them.

After the official opening ceremony, Daniel Désiré Olle, Deputy General Manager of CAMTEL visited the company’s imposing exhibition stand and was visibly satisfied with what he saw after a guided tour punctuated with explanations on various products and services on display, though he did not speak to the media.

Talking to the press about CAMTEL’s presence at the biggest platform for business promotion and business partnerships in the Sub region, Francis Ajumane Akam, Research Officer at the Corporate Communications Unit of the telco said the company is at PROMOTE to showcase and woo potential customers and partners with all its components notably Business Unit Mobile, Business Unit Fixed and Business Unit Transport.

“Today we are here [at PROMOTE 2024] with our flagship product BLUE which came into the market in 2021,” Ajumane said, explaining that CAMTEL has as ambition to control a lion’s share of the telecoms market, “that is why we see PROMOTE as an opportunity to grow our market.”

He said CAMTEL’s presence at PROMOTE is also to let visitors and potential customers know that with its Business Unit Fixed, the company has the best optic fibre one can find in the market and is “planning to be a telecommunication hub in the whole of Sub-Saharan Africa by 2035” with the Business Unit Transport.

Since the fair was officially opened, visitors have been taking turns at the stand, listening to what the company has to offer.

CAMTEL expects to build brand awareness and reach a larger audience by the time the fair wraps up on Sunday February 25, the spinoff of which will obviously be increased sales and revenue for the state-owned telco entrusted to Judith Yah Sunday Achidi since December 2018.
